Elsewhere as Stage: The Cross-Cultural Passage of Art

本次講座邀請藝術家暨獨立策展人段沐，分享在創作、策展及國際展演的經驗。他從個人作品談起，探討新媒體媒介的感知特性、文化語境中的作品發聲，以及拓展海外展演網絡的方法。

段沐的創作關注虛擬與現實間的身體感與知覺差異，並轉化為哲思的視覺語言。代表作包括：結合佛教不淨觀與虛擬身體的沉浸式作品《幻體》；於日本駐村時，融合神道信仰與火山石文化的混合實境作品；以及探討 AI 與書法學習相似性的《書譜：萬物演算》。雖形式各異，皆關注媒介感知、身體意識與文化轉譯。

他分享自 2022 年參與雅典數位藝術節起，持續透過投遞 open call 建立展演網絡，讓作品走向歐亞美洲多國。其中在阿爾巴尼亞杜勒斯雙年展的「台灣館」參展，引發政治爭議，最後雖被典藏，身份卻改為「特邀藝術家」，反映國際場域的複雜性。

段沐亦談到在亞美尼亞與當地空間:DDD Kunst House合作的駐村與策展計畫，展出以石頭與書寫為題的作品並獲熱烈回響。他鼓勵藝術家主動創造交流場域，讓作品在不同文化中重新發聲。

This talk featured artist and independent curator Tuan Mu, who shared his experience in art-making, curating, and building international exhibition networks. Using his own works, he discussed the perceptual qualities of new media, how art speaks within cultural contexts, and strategies for engaging globally.

Tuan’s practice examines the gap between bodily experience and perception in virtual and physical realms. Key works include Patikulamanasikara, an immersive piece combining Buddhist contemplation on impurity with the virtual body; a mixed reality work inspired by Shinto beliefs and volcanic stone culture during a residency in Japan; and Calligrapedia: A Universal Algorithm, which explores parallels between AI and calligraphy. All reflect his interest in media perception, bodily awareness, and cultural translation.

Since debuting at the Athens Digital Arts Festival in 2022, Tuan has built a network that has brought his works to Europe, Asia, and the Americas. At the Durrës International Biennale of Contemporary Art in Albania, his participation in the “Taiwan Pavilion” sparked political controversy—his work was acquired, but his title changed to “Invited Artist,” revealing the complexities of international practice.

He also recounted his residency and curatorial project in Armenia with local art space :DDD Kunst House, presenting stone and writing-themed works that resonated with audiences. He urged artists to create their own opportunities, enabling their works to “speak again” in diverse cultural contexts.
