Wave Week 2026
2026.10.24 – 11.1|Taipei Zhongshan District
About Wave Week
Wave Week builds on the network Hyper Wave has developed through residency exchanges, exhibitions, visits and international open calls, inviting international partners as guest curators. The first edition focuses on video, digital art and generative AI moving images, with France’s VIDEOFORMES, founded in 1984, and Australia’s OMNI, launched in 2024. Forty years apart, the two organizations look together at how technology changes the way art is seen, told and made.

Program
One week, three formats, three venues. WORLDS opens at Hyper Wave Taipei Space and runs until the final day; midweek, the OMNI International AI Film Festival screening and discussion take over a bar in Zhongshan, and the curator’s talk moves to MoCA Taipei. From gallery to bar to museum, Wave Week invites audiences to follow moving images across the city.
Exhibition | WORLDS
Photography has not put an end to painting, cinema has not replaced live performance, and video has not supplanted performance art. The history of artistic forms is shaped by these turbulent evolutions, stimulated each time by the arrival of new tools, without the old forms disappearing: they shift, rub shoulders with the new, and are transformed. What is distinctive about the digital age is that it does not merely coexist with pre-existing forms: it alters them, recomposes them, and sometimes elevates them. In the visual arts, from drawing to photography, from sculpture to installation, hybridisation is rapid, unpredictable and innovative, opening creation up to new worlds, to be explored rather than feared.
Works | Golnaz Behrouznia, Dramaturgy of Biospheric Cycles · Anne-Sophie Emard, Les Nageuses · Guillaumit, Eau vive

Screening | OMNI International AI Film Festival
Founded in Australia, OMNI is an international festival platform dedicated to generative AI and filmmaking. Through open calls, curated screenings and exchanges between creators, it shows how artists around the world use AI to explore new possibilities in film, image and sound. This evening presents a selection from the festival, followed by a conversation with the OMNI team.
Talk
From Videotape to Algorithms
A personal journey through the relationship between art and new technologies, and the ways artists take hold of technological tools to show, perceive, feel and rethink the body. Technologies change; the questions remain. The boundary between the physical and the digital is being blurred, continuously and deliberately.
