Australia
Residency period
6/3/25
7/31/25
I am an Australian artist, born in Brisbane, and I have lived in London, Istanbul, Sydney and Zurich. I am currently living and working once again in Hong Kong, where I previously lived for four years.
My work has been showcased in solo and group exhibitions in Europe and south-east Asia, as well as in Australia. I am honoured to be one of the finalists for the Australian Dobell Drawing Prize in 2023 and again this year, 2025. My work is also included in The Drawing Center New York’s online drawing archive.
I make large-scale, mixed-media drawings on paper. My work begins with drawings of architectural features from the built environment, which I then reconfigure in different combinations to create abstract compositions. During my artist’s residency at Surfy Space, I plan to research the local architecture built in the rural landscape in the local area around Luodong and use this research as the basis for a series of observational drawings.
Residency plan
During my artist’s residency at Surfy Space, I plan to research the architecture built in the local rural landscape around Luodong. My intention is that these observations will develop into a series of works which are a meditation on the variety and ingenuity of vernacular architecture and the changing topography of urban and rural landscapes alike.
